Dumbledore

Um, I'm glad we're SORT OF back on topic...

Back to what you guys were saying before: I LOVE rainy London days. Yes, I'm weird. No, I don't care. And I agree, the Americanized British words are extremely stupid. In fact, I only use British spelling now, to be rebellious, and because it's fun/looks better, in my opinion.

As I've said several times already, Dumbledore's sexuality should not affect so many people's opinions of him so much! It's really a shame. It's not funny, guys (I'm not just talking to you, but to the general Dumbledore-mocking public).

Dumbledore had to die in the sixth book so that Harry could continue his quest on his own. Dumbledore still influenced him in many ways, even returning, but as Jo has said many times (and as it is implied through the nature of hero's journey-style books like this...), she had to kill off those who were considered parental figures to Harry so the journey would purely be his own (so, Sirius, his father, Dumbledore, Dobby...).

What's funny is that people think it's a big deal. I just like satire.

That is true--people ought to not make a big deal out of it. Just leave it alone--why does it matter? It didn't affect the story.

So, what Alexandra said. Maybe you should edit that post so that it adds something to the conversation.

As a new member of the site, I just clicked on the first topic that i saw, literature, and read. I have to say, I was mildly dissapointed. As the original post (Destroyer?) stated, she may have just said it for attention, then by ignoring it we can defeat JK and her evil attention getting schemes. If she answered truthfully then WHO CARES, as the guy never really lived it isnt worth talking about. AS a literature fan myself I would like to suggest that someone try discussing some other literature other than Harry Potter, which despite its entertaining story line, is not the most fablous piece of writing ever to have been published. SO, let me start this off by suggesting a book to all of you. Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlen. THe book is not renowed for its remarkable prose, but many of the ideas in the book are interesting and thought provoking, and i would love to discuss it with someone else who has read the book.

Hi, and welcome to Literate Monkeys! Unfortunately, this post should be in a new thread. I'm not a moderator, but you can delete this post and repost it in a new topic to start this discussion. Thanks!
