Cooling your computer (green)

Postby Admin » Sun Dec 16, 2007 12:05 am

Sometimes my Powerbook G4 gets really hot, so in order to cool it efficiently, I use an icepak. It works pretty well, because after about 40 seconds of iceing, the computer's fans turn off of full blast. Does anyone else to this?

Nope, but try putting it on a flat surface, because sometimes it could just be that you're blocking the vents. Also, not so green because you're using a refrigerator to freeze and ice pack made with a handful of different chemicals and plastics in a factory somewhere.
Namaste,

I tried sticking one of those artificial cooler things on the back of my imac a while ago, and it didn't seem to help it...

He probably means a base with extra fans.

remember what I told you verbally? I used ice pax on top of my bat and HD. Really effective. But only works for short time because you have to keep replensihing ice. Better to have a big bowl of ice and put comp on top. The first method lowerd my fans from 7k RPM to 2K RPM...help you go green

Kenny, I don't think powerbook fans are capable of reaching 7k RPM. That would be fast.

You are correct, the limit is 6000.
